Halloooooo.........

Good morning! er.........I guess it's afternoon.

I've been running around all morning like a chicken with it's head cut off. Which is pretty visual in my mind's eye as my DH just lopped off the heads of 7 roosters last wed afternoon. Now those guys are lined up in quart jars! I was busy doing Thanksgiving dinner stuffs, and he killed cleaned, plucked, and bottled all by himself! He is a VERY handy guy to have around huh! l LOL

We did go after Christmas Trees last Friday, which I think is a far more pleasant activity than Black Friday shopping! I did that.......once. That was enough.

We went west, up toward Tabby and over the Golden staircase. We took our left over pies and salads and turkey and rolls and one DD brought some hand dipped Christmas chocolates! YUMMY!

We had a fun day, got our trees and came home by way our DS's home to celebrate a 2nd year birthday of our # 5 grandson!

A Peacock has adopted us. Don't know from whence he came, but he has been here since summer. He roosts up in the trees around our house. The dogs, which are literal death on cats, leave him alone. He's pretty aggressive and has pecked them so they just give him all the space he desires! :-) I love seeing him out and about, strutting his stuff! I am going to get him a Peahen in the spring! Then he can really strut!

Sue showed us her Thanksgiving dishes, and I just felt compelled to show you mine. Truly the thought never really occurred to me until I saw her post. I love her dishes so much. Here are mine. The first ones I bought, I bought at a storage shed sale. I knew I had to have more. I have found a few server dishes on eBay, all the rest I have found at the TS. One year for Christmas DH gave me a huge box full he picked up at the TS for me. As a child, I can remember these dishes coming in the oatmeal box, and I know they came from the gas station. All as premiums for buying a certain amount of the product. The pattern is called Golden Wheat.

Here I am, jumping back to getting trees

Blurry I know...... This is coming back down the Golden Staircase

Looking south. If you were to follow the highway, you would end up in Fruitland.

This duo wanted to have a tree for their room!

MY sister calls this country where we live, "folded" land. There is so much land here, and there are mountains and plateaus and valleys and just land. Miles and miles of land without people. Land that belongs to the forest service, or BLM, or wildlife fish and game , and private farms and ranches.

Well, back to the races. The dishes are calling my name! LOL

I grateful for the chance to start a new day everyday, fresh......... just waiting to be filled to the brim! I'm grateful for the holiday that just passed, the memories from past Thanksgivings, and the memories of new ones.

Enjoy your day

In Hymn Of Praise

How Can I keep From Singing

Music by Robert W. Lowry

My life flows on in endless song: Above earth's lamentation, I hear the sweet, tho' far off hymn That hails a new, creation.

Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul--How can I keep from singing?

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing;
All things are mine since I am his--How can I keep from singing?

Since Christ is Lord Of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?

I'm so grateful for those who hear the music, and the words, and give us beautiful hymns!

Enjoy your day!

Blogging? Me?

The other morning when we were walking, we saw geese flying north! I was excited and told my mom maybe it was a sign, and surely spring was coming! LOL We both laughed as we stood there in the middle of the road, faces upturned, watching them as they formed their famous flying V. It was a noisy affair, and I wondered what it was they were saying to each other, and how they knew which slot was theirs.

So, time passes along, and once again, I haven't spent much of it here on the computer. I'm sorry for that. I have missed your posts.

I didn't tell you about our cat misshap.......

Well, we are still battling mice here at the stone house......So we adopted a cat. His family is moving out of the country and could not take him with. Poor guy, I think he was in total shock being taken away from his home.......Yes, well, Mr G as we call him, which is short for Mr Gigantor, is a huge tabby colored year old neutered scardy cat! This cat is bigger than our 7 month old grandaughter, and I don't think he had ever been outside much. He did not like our house, nor the old dog that sleeps in the mudroom. He found the darkest most farthest away place to hide in the house, and stayed there until the middle of the night, when he would come out and make a mess. And I do mean a "mess". SO, in very short order, he landed himself out in the grainry! We feed him there and told him to feel free to eat all the mice and squirrels he sees, and not to let any get into the grain!

I just saw him outside hunting, an If he even had a clue how big he was, he wouldn't be scared of anything!
So once again I'm back needing to either get a cat, or put out bar bait. Uggg. I really "dislike" mice!

I did get my little gingerbread men made. I got in too big of a hurry and forgot I wasn't making cookies, and rolled them out with flour. But they turned out OK any way.
If you would like the recipe, go here to get it. Remember these are not edible. Except for two year olds don't care! They eat them anyway....or try to! LOL

I also have finished my Thanksgiving stitcherys.

Thankful from Primitive Bettys , Daily Bread from Stitches 'N Stones , and Give Thanks from The Stitcherhood

I have also finished some Christmas ones as well, but will show them at a later date.

We are week 7 of Gratitude Attitude.

Time has been marching right along huh.
I'm very grateful for extended family! My sisters son and little family have been down from Idaho to visit. We had a good time laughing and visiting. I really love our family! Not only our own, but our brothers and sisters and their families. We're spread all over now, and can't be together as much as we would like too, but this Internet keeps us linked a little closer than just the phone. Happy Thanksgiving Family!! I love you all and think about you often!

Enjoy your day!

Give Thanks Freebie

I have been working on this little tuck, off and on while waiting at the school for the tween to get done with BB, and it occurred to me this morning that some of you may like to make one too. This is a freebie from The Stitcherhood. So if you don't already have the pattern, and would like it. Go Here to get it!

I got to busy sewing and made a huge mistake, which had to come out. It sure does sew in faster than it unpicks out! lol

It's not very big and goes pretty fast...........if ya don't make mistakes! :-)

Gratitude Attitude

I'm so grateful that the anxiety that I struggle with will NOT be an eternal part of who I am!

Enjoy your day.

May I have a nap today?

Well, I did get the Halloween decorations off of the bottom four stairs, and up into their tubs.....and I did get the Thanksgiving things out. I did move both sofa's in the living room and manage to get the floor swept. I turned the dryer on.......again......and that feels like that's about it for today. I think I have a HUGE case of the "i need a nap" sickness! LOL

I really wanted to get some faux gingerbread men made ( for Linda's recipe and a fun way to display them)

and I also wanted to get some pantry cakes made today.

However, I played with our little granddaughter for a tiny while, and our 27 month old, while his mom went to her doc apt, ( she's down to going every week now!) and I have spent some time gazing at our DIL & son's new puppies! The little mom is a dapple mini dachshund. They went out to the city this week end, and we've been caring for their little dog. Yesterday she had 6 puppies ! Honestly, I don't know how she carried all of these little babies! LOL I truly felt sorry for her!

I have enjoyed catching up on your blogs, and seeing and hearing about all the busy things you're involved in. It's getting time to get going on super, and soon it will be time to run to the school and pick up the tween from BB practice. Which leaves no time for a nap!

The happy thought in all of this.................bedtime is just around the corner!
But by that time, I will have gotten my second wind....or first as the case seems to be today, and I won't want to go to bed! LOL

Ever have a day like this?
Glad I had husband to get off to work, and a tween to get off to school AND a walking partner waiting to go on our morning walk..............or I would may never have gotten up today! lol

We are on week 5 of our

Gratitude Attitude. Thanks to each of you who are joining me in this quest to acknowledge our gratitude for the many blessing that come our way daily.
Today I'm grateful for the beautiful Indian Summer we have been having! And for the amazing sunsets we have here in the high desert country. The colors are so vibrant and brilliant! I also enjoyed our last full moon. I still am enjoying it even though it is waining . I love the harvest moon shinning down on us!

Enjoy your day!

In Hymn Of Praise

I love this hymn and the beautiful composition by Aaron Waite.
Love At Home
text and music by John Hugh McNaughton
preformed by Aaron Waite

There is beauty all around when there's love at home;
There is joy in every sound when there's love at home.
Peace and plenty here abide,
Smiling sweetly on every side.
Time doth softly sweetly glide
When there's love at home.
Love at home,
Love at home;
Time doth softly sweetly glide when there love at home.

In the cottage there is joy, when there's love at home;
Hate and envy ne'er annoy when there's love at home.
Roses bloom beneath our feet;
All the earths a garden sweet,
making live a bliss complete
When there's love at home.
Love at home,
Love at home;
Making life a bliss complete when there's love at home.

Kindly heaven smiles above when there's love at home;
All the world is filled with love when there's love at home.
Sweeter sings the brooklet by;
Brighter beams the azure sky.
Oh, there's One who smiles on high
When there's love at home.
Love at home,
Love at home;
Oh, there's One who smile on high when there's love at home.

I'm very grateful for my family and the love and enjoyment and happiness that permeates our lives.

Enjoy your day!

What do you eat for Christmas morning breakfast?

Is it too early to ask this question?

I'm just thinking ahead, and am in the mood to try something new.

Our family will all gather here at the Stone House for Christmas Dinner, but Christmas breakfast will be a fairly small affair. All of our Children live somewhere in the Basin, and most will spend Christmas morning at their own homes, enjoying their little families and their own family traditions.

We have tried a plethora of good things for Christmas breakfast, some of them easier to fix, some we liked better than others.

BUT, I'm in the mood for something new.

SO, what do you fix for this meal? I would love to hear your ideas!

Marie over to Spun by Me, has made these way cute mitten ornaments. There is a link there for the tutorial. I like 'em.

Just busy days here at the Stone House. I think the days are the same at your homes as well.

I'm so thankful for my DH. I don't really understand how I caught him, but I'm going to hang on to him FOREVER! :-)

Enjoy your day!

opppps.......didn't get the entire song......out of time till later....sorry...

From Gods Arms To My Arms To Yours
words and music by Michael McLean

With so many wrong decisions in my past, I'm not quite sure if I can ever hope to trust my judgement anymore.
but lately I've been thinking, 'cause it's all I've had to do. and in my heart I feel that I should give this child to you.
And maybe you can tell your baby, when you love him so that he's been loved before; by someone who delivered your son, from Gods arms, to my arms to yours.
If you choose to tell him, and if he wants to know,
how the one who gave him birth could bear to let him go;
just tell him there were sleepless nights I prayed and paced the floors,
and knew the only peace I'd find is if this child is yours.
And maybe you can tell your baby, when you love him so that he's been loved before;
by someone who delivered your son from God's arms to my arms to yours.
Now know that you don't have to do this, but could you kiss him once for me the first time that he ties his shoes, or falls and skins his knee?
And could you hold him twice as long when he makes his mistakes;
and tell him that he's not alone,
sometimes that's all it takes.
I know how much he'll ache.
This may not be the answer for another girl like me;
but I'm not on a soap box saying how we all should be.
I'm just trusting in my feelings and I'm trusting God above, and I'm trusting you can give this baby both his mothers' love.
And maybe you can tell your baby,
when you love him so that he's been loved before;
by someone who delivered your son,
from God's arms to my arms to yours.______

I'm so grateful for our last little chick in the nest.
I'm grateful for his other mother and for the love she has for him too.

I know she made a very difficult decision a bunch of years ago.
I know that not a day goes by that she doesn't think of our child.
She did deliverer my son from God's arms to her arms to mine!

I love you Anne. Always and Forever.
Thank you for this eternally priceless gift.

Enjoy your Day.
