Blessed SPRING!

I love Holly Hocks. AND, they grow for me! Which is and of it's self, a miracle.

My #1 daughter gave me this old bed. I love it. My Mom shuddered trying to imagine why I would want some more old junk! Ahhh, me thinks Tis not junk, but rather, a thing of beauty, a "treasure"! I plan on painting it black. It's on the "to do ASAP" list.

This table is another"treasure", but came from the TS. I think it has lots of personality. Here again my mom and I don't share the same feelings! LOL I'm not sure what color I'll paint it. The reason I bought this little honey, is to use at our #3 son's open house later on in the summer.

I wish I had room in a little breakfast nook for this little table to go......wait, I wish I had a breakfast nook! JK I love it.

OK, enough raptures over my cute little table. For all I know, you may share my Mom's views on my "treasures". Below are some sort of ideas on what I want to do with my old tables for the open house.

I want to use mismatched chairs and tables and benches, and I don't want table cloths, but maybe runners, and simple center pieces. We are having an old fashioned BBQ, with roast pig and lamb over a spit, and some salad and a roll...... maybe some cupcakes.........(have to plan early).... ...(here my hands are wringing and wringing....) LOL ! And lastly, another fun out side table setting. ~~~~~~~~~ Summer WEDDING, here we come!!!!

BTW.....for some reason blogger isn't updating my posts. Sorry about that. I also have noticed that on some of your blogs, the followers boxes are empty and blank, where I know they were full yesterday. Anyone know how to fix this?

This wasn't the plan when I got up this morning....................However, as I was sweeping my floor I decided I had had enough of it and so up it was going to come! There was a bad spot, where the flooring had come up and got chipped off and off and off and off, and, well you get the picture.
Dirt was a HUGE problem there as it would work it's way up under the floor and cause it to loosen and break off again. Not to mention it was hard to clean and get it clean..............We have talked about what we were going to do here until I was becoming blue in the face. This morning I am done talking. Off it comes!!!! This bad spot was right on the threshold between the Living Room and the Kitchen, heavy traffic area for sure. Have Ye been Kissin the wee little Blarney Stone today?

Top O' the morning to ye! It's a fine and beautiful day here to be celebrating the proud wearin O' the green! I hope ye set a wee little trap fer a wee little leprechaun! Hope ye caught him I do! If ye did, ye can be after him to be tellin ye where he hid his wee little pot O' gold! I'm here ter wish alla ya a cheery Happy St. Patricks day!!!!!

This is the first year that Little Big Chief has not built a leprechaun trap in his bedroom in hopes of catching a little wee folk for himself! Sigh! I feel a little sad as some of the trappings of childhood are set aside for "tween" interests.........

So, I've been busy rusting away here..........

I've found these recipes lots of different places, and they all seem to be the same. I have tried them both, but I like the 2ND one best. The secret is to remember that they need the oxygen in the air to rust. Don't panic when you take them out and they aren't very rusty.........

4oz household bleach, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon salt

OR

4 oz peroxide, 4 oz distilled vinegar, 1 tablespoon salt

Use a glass jar, drop in your bells, small metal cutouts, or your safety pins, and cover with your rusting solution. Stir with an old fork or spoon. (not one you eat with, it may rust) Your things will begin to turn a silver color if they have been brass coated. The cheaper the metal, the better it will rust. DO NOT SCREW A LID ON YOUR BOTTLE! Your solution is going to foam. It is best if you can, to leave everything in the bottle for 48-72 hours. You can use then in a couple of days if you need too, but they longer they sit in the rusting solution, the better. When it's time to take them out, put them on some folded newspapers, or some paper towels to dry. Let them air dry or place them in the sun. Also, turn them over and move them around so that all sides will dry.

I have not tried putting them in a warm over, but I know of some who have done it in a pinch.

Remember, they may not look very rusty when you take them out of the solution, THEY NEED TO AIR DRY TO RUST! You can increase the amounts of each recipe, and use to cover a larger item, like a grater. Just follow the same procedures as with the smaller items. SOLID BRASS items will NOT rust. SO remember to buy the cheap brand of pins and bells......

These Bells were done with the bleach solution. I'm not sure if they are a "better" metal or I just didn't leave them in for 72 hours.......The pins were done with peroxide solution. I like the color they turned out. This is my favorite solution for rusting.

And, to be honest, I use more salt.....I get antsy and add unmeasured amounts in.........(is that called manipulating the recipe?)

On Sat. morning, we had a cousins reunion of sorts. (girls day out) My maiden name is Hunsaker, and my grandparents were Emma Camp and Francis Hunsaker. We younger......(I say that with tongue in cheek, but we are the babies....) cousins on the Hunsaker side, got together for breakfast at Johanna's Kitchen, the few of us that could come. We had a good time and vowed that we are not going to wait 20 years to do this again, and will try to recruit the rest of us as well. I can not believe how fast the years can go, and how our lives change with the years! It was also amazing to me, to look around the table and watch our hands! They are almost all the same shape and size! I have lots and lots of good memories tied up with these ladies!

BTW, last night for home evening we went into town and saw "Race To Witch Mountain"........I wasn't really excited to see it, but Little Big Chief really wanted to. I was pleasantly surprised. In fact I got so caught up in the fast action, that my popcorn was gone in minutes!!! We all liked it. :-) we had a good time and I think it was a fun movie! Have you seen it? Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I am trying to get lots done this morning. We play cards, yes cards with my Mom on wed afternoons. We each take a pot luck dish and laugh the afternoon away....LOL. But this morning I have been working on my swap items (can't show & tell them yet) I have also been trying to get some Spring things done. I am going to paint my carrots and my crow, and put wire in the bunnies ears. He still needs his face sculpted, and a pocket sewn on the front of him, but it's doubtful that will happen this morning. Maybe later this evening...

I put some bells into rust, a bag into stain,

and I spent a while undoing the mess in my embroidery bag! Now it's all nice and neat and I have more floss that I thought.

I am going to try to make a pattern for some chocolate bunnies to fill my bucket out on my porch. I have a yen to have some scattered around the house.

So, nothing fancy or earth shatteringly amazing. The sun is out today, and the w.i.n.d. isn't blowing as yet. Yesterday was a cold windy freezing blustery day! We're having a wedding!

My son Landon is engaged! WaHoo!!! Lucky Ducks Us! We are getting another awesome daughter!!! We have been so blessed! They haven't set the date yet...at least that I know of! LOL They are talking maybe June? How fun will that be. A summer wedding! Our other kids that are married have all been married in the winter time. So I am excited for a June wedding. Welcome to our crazy family Kassie♥

We made a trip out to the city this week. We went to tow our son and DIL's car home, and we went to Draper to the open house. So Beautiful. We went out in the aftermath of a snow storm, and had nasty roads. But by the time we came home it was all nice and dry. Thank heavens. It was a beautiful day and the sun was so brilliant.

By the time we got to Provo Canyon, the roads were good. The mountains were so pretty all along, but I was trying to sew and not look out the window, so I missed all the beautiful senery out in Strawberry valley. I'm not a very good slick road traveler. LOL My DH says I need to take a Valium, lay on the floor and cover up my head!! I have no Valium, I would be all scrunched on the floor, but covering my head is not a bad idea! Hehehe

There are so many things going on in our family these days. We are waiting for the arrival of our first granddaughter, coming in April. Can't wait to see her little face and kiss her little cheeks!♥

She will be welcomed by a loving family and five little boy cousins. She will give them all a merry dance! LOL Welcome little Paislee Jo♥

Our Daughter and SIL are moving this week into a new town house in Roosevelt. Their first home! No more renting. They will be close, just about 20 miles away. I am looking forward to this move for them. Everyone needs their own place.:-) It will be fun to see how she does it up. It will be closer to my SIL's work so they will save a heap on gas money. We give them a bad time, between school in Logan and work in Price and work here now, this will be the 7th time the two of them have moved in 3 years!!!

It is a beautiful day here in the Basin. We woke up to new snow, but it has all melted. The W.I.N.D. is blowing. (shhhhhhh. don't say it out loud, it will hear you and blow harder.LOL) Little big chief and I went for a ride up in the Field to have a look see at the cows. Here is our latest calf and her mom. The momma was wary of the dogs and wanted no part of them. Our calf is brand new, and still a little wet. If we would have been faster, we would have seen her being born! I never get tired of that! It's such a miracle, even to see an animal being born!

Little Big Chief and his Blue Heeler dog, "Bear". Crazy dog loves to ride. If you jump out of the truck or car or even the four wheeler for a second, when you come back, he's sitting in your seat! LOL

Just a few of the things I've been working on. A bucket full of Luck! Some for the porch, and some for inside.

This was a fun find. I saw one of these on Sarah's blog, and loved it. Had my DS sand it off for me, and of course I painted and stained it my new favorite color. This one is for my mom, who likes the cottage kind of look. I am looking for a birds nest to sit under the dome. But for today, here is a cup and eggs..... Don't you just love the small engine part in the window sill? (little mechanic)
