What Fun Are You Going to Have This Weekend???

We have some dear friends who are going to a primitive shoot this Saturday! How fun this will be! I am feeling a little left out on this venture. A Primitive gathering is so much fun. They are going to be going to beautiful Ft. Buenaventura in Odgen Ut. Can't you just smell the campfires burning? Can't you hear the BOOM, from the guns as they are fired? Can't you see the tents all set up and waiting for you on Traders Row? Can't you hear the bagpipers playing? Maybe Kirkmount will be there playing as well......................... Naomi and Daniel, keep yer powder dry! Have a blast and win an awesome prize!!!!We could go to this, except that we are still feeding cows, and calving. So we stay to home, and have a good time here on the farm. We have a couple of places we can go on our farm, to have a picnic. One is down by the creek, and the other is a place our family calls "the flats". We do all of our Easter playing on Saturday, an we have a a big fire, and roast some hot dogs or a hot link or two, or maybe a brat or a chunk of steak! And we can't forget the inevitable marshmallow! It just isn't a picnic unless someone has some bits of grass or dirt stuck to their face! :-) Most of our family will come, and we will have some potato salad, and maybe some home made dry ice root beer! We will hide baskets, and maybe some eggs and other treats, an we'll all go home smelling like smoke! Our DIL says she is having a baby this weekend! And she may! Her blood pressure has been high and they are keeping a good watch on her. But they may end up starting her if they can't get her pressure down. Being started is not too bad, except for the pit! BUt we are hanging on by the skin of our teeth, because we are having a baby shower for her this thursday!!! We may just have to have it another time! LOL

I joined a Primitive Laundry Room swap over to Chars.....http://charsethman.blogspot.com/The Pickled Pepper Patch a while back, and these are the things I made and sent out to Kim who lives in Ohio, and was my swap partner. My treasures she sent to me are still in the mail and I'm getting excitied ! (Can't wait to see them......LOL)

So, what is it that you are going to be doing in your neck of the woods this weekend? ♥♥♥

In Hymn Of Praise

LEAD KINDLY LIGHT

"Lead, Kindly Light" is a hymn with words written in 1833 by John Henry Newman and 4th verse by Edward H. Bickersteth, Jr.. The tune was written by John B. Dykes in 1865
As a young priest, John Newman became sick while in Italy and was unable to travel for almost three weeks. In his own words:

John B Dykes John Henry Newman
Before starting from my inn, I sat down on my bed and began to sob bitterly. My servant, who had acted as my nurse, asked what ailed me. I could only answer, "I have a work to do in England." I was aching to get home, yet for want of a vessel I was kept at Palermo for three weeks. I began to visit the churches, and they calmed my impatience, though I did not attend any services. At last I got off in an orange boat, bound for Marseilles. We were becalmed for whole week in the Straits of Bonifacio, and it was there that I wrote the lines, Lead, Kindly Light, which have since become so well known.
Lead, Kindly Light was sung by a soloist on the RMS Titanic during a hymn-singing gathering led by Rev. Ernest C. Carter, shortly before the ocean liner struck an iceberg on April 14, 1912.

Honest again...............

WoW, This has been a week! Long agonizing story, but DH and I have taken LBC out of school and I'll be teaching him this last 7 weeks at home! In our small area, our second choices are very limited. So..... this is not how I invisioned this school year ending, but when something is broken, it needs to be fixed. Sigh.....BUT.....The internet is sooooooo amazing!!! Our Princapal has been very helpful, and I've had some dear friends who have given me much help and encouragement.
Our grown children have shared both concerns and support. Thank you all! I love you dearly! And now that I'm in the thick of it....I am liking it! I should have done this much sooner, and I hopeful not too much damage has been done and LBC will be ready to go back 7th grade in the fall! I have a few pictures I want to share with you and then I'm going to be Honest again! :-)

This is my DD's little half bath with her fun things. I couldn't get a very good picture of the entire room......

On the living room wall, is this picture of my FIL and his first wife, who died very young. The letter is from her, to him, while he was alway in the service. The date on the letter is the same date as pearl harbor was bombed. Our oldest daughter gave this to her sister for a birthday gift one year. I love this,(envy envy) I think it's way neat.

On wed. I get together with my Mother, and most of my girls, (DD's and DDIL"S) and we play cards. We take a pot luck dish, and just have a good time. I took deviled eggs and thought I would share with you how I fill them........and maybe you already do this, or know another way.........After you have mixed the filling, spoon it into a baggie, and either zip it or twist it closed. snip the end of the baggie off, and now you have a fast easy pastry bag. Just fill up the egg whites.

Here is the quilt we worked on the other day, and you can see that the quilt top is covered with a white sheet that has been cut full of holes. This is the guide for the ties. We don't always use this, but it really helps when the fabric doen't have an easy even pattern to tie. You just tie in the holes, and you don't have to worry. We have an enjoyable time when we get together to quilt. We tend to try to solve the worlds troubles! LOL

Yesterday I was a judge at a Potery recitieding contest. It was very hard! The children all did such a good job! We could only have three winners, and three Honorable mentions. The little Gal in the pink was first place. She was fun to watch. She has a very natural "dramatic gene"! LOL

Nicole, (Our Cozy Nest) http://ourcozynest.blogspot.com/ has tagged me with another change to be "Honest". So once again, here are 10 things about me that maybe you do or don't already know.....

BTW, if you haven't already gone to visit Nicole, you really should. It's a fun blog and she shares with us the coolest things to make and things she has made. AND, in case I forgot, Congrats Nicole on the new Baby!!!! And Congrats on the Moda Bake Shop tutorial, on the scrappy letter!!I love that letter!

1. I love popcorn. It’s my very favorite treat to have. Especially on rainy days! I love it plain, or with butter and salt, or with Carmel, or chocolate, or butter and salted with hot tamales, or hot buttered with sugar babies in it too! (Thanks Mimi Sue, I love it)
2. I love the sunshine! I have a struggle with dark and dreary days. (But a good book and some hot popcorn help …LOL)
3. 3. I love purses. Shoes and purses. I like them in leather. OK, true confessions, I never have bought a new leather purse. I always buy them from a TS.....I have found the most awesome leather bags from DI. (TS)
4. I am a daydreamer, a mountain out of molehill maker, a true worrier, a romantic, and an optimistic. My glass is half full! I have a blue personality.
5. I am not a coffee drinker, but I am always dying something with it and I don’t wear gloves, so my hands are often brown stained, and my house often times smells like coffee.
6. I Love old dishes. I think the chore of eating is much more pleasant if eaten off of old dishes.
7. For the last 20 years or so,(totally sounds like I’m way old here) I have had a longing to become an Anthropologist. Now that I am on the winding up end of raising children I have been thinking of pursuing something along those lines. I would love to work in the Ute Tribe museum. (It isn’t built yet, but they are in the beginning stages.)
8. I like Supper Massive Black Hole sung by Muse. This is not my “normal” kind of music, nor the type of band I care for, but I like this song. I liked Flightless Bird, until I read the lyrics, and that was the end of that song on my play list! LOL
9. I love to sing, but do not having a singing voice. I am an alto at best. BUT, I sing everywhere I go. (I also talk to myself…)
10.I haven’t been to Europe, but I don’t feel to badly about it. I love these United States, and have been able to travel all over them. But there are still so many places I haven’t gone that I want to go, that I can hardly even think of another continent. I do have a yen to see Ireland and Scotland. But other than that, I don’t have much interest. Where I want to go for a visit, is “back in time”. (Told you I was strange!)

So there you are again, some Honesty....

Here's just a parting smile for you this week end....My SonIL brought this to me one day. Made me laugh. Enjoy.

Once again its Whatch working on wednesday, Jump over to Leslie's and see what everyone else is doing. http://sweetsmycountryhome.blogspot.com/

This is what I'm doing today..............We had new snow this morning. Just a skiff, cold as can be. I'm hoping the mountains got dumped on. We need it up there! Dh is on call this week, an was called out this morning. There was a poll on fire on the corner of state street and highway 40 in Roosevelt.(Alco corner )...They had the fire truck there, and were in a rush to get to the sub station and get the power off before the poll broke and dropped all those live wires on the anyone....... I am going up to the church in a couple of hours to help tie quilts for humanitarian effort. Then it's off to play cards with my Mom and my Girls. I have a bunch of eggs (Chickens are doing such a good job these days. LOL) and for part of my pot luck, I'm going to make deviled eggs and use my nifty deviled egg plate, which is also a TS find, (cuz according to the southern sisters mysteries, you're nobody if you don't even own an egg plate!) LOL

I painted this TS tool box last spring, but didn't find a home for it until just the last day or so. I decided to set it on top of the cupboard my tv is in. It can hold all the remotes and extra cords and such. I wanted it to say "Ranch Homestead" but didn't have room to make it all the size I wanted, so I settled for "homestead". I want to get it painted and re distressed this morning before I go to Altamont to quilt.

I did,at last, get the clock painted. OK, I need a suggestion.....This is for my Mom's house, and she likes "cottage" what can I put inside of this bird cage to make it look "Cottage"? My mind is blank....... Or should I leave it alone as it is?..........

Went here yesterday for a few minutes, and found a couple of treasures....

This little dome has been there for a month or more, calling my name. But, it was 4 dollars, and it was sitting on a very ugly cheese board that had had something hot glued to it at one time, and remnants of the hot glue were still there. Not too hot. I didn't want the board, just the dome. Because it had been there for a long time, I was able to get it for half price! And, sitting right there on the shelf nest to it, was this very pretty little footed and scalloped plate! I placed the dome on it, and wal-la! Perfect fit! I scooped them both up. I love how they look together! I think they will also find a Home at My Mom's..........................maybe.....LOL

I need to start reading Jane Eyre for my book club in April. Anyone read it? What
am I in for? Kim told me Romance, (I can do romance...) and my niece Caralee told me it would broaden my horizons! (that's why I'm in a book club:-) I need some "broadening! ) (well, some parts of me are already broad!)
I know one thing, I would like to see this new movie that BBC has
made, that this picture came from ! LOL

Well, gotta go, my eggs have boiled dry!!!! I'm off to make deviled eggs and go tie some quilts!
Have a great APRILS FOOLS DAY!!!!!
Think, what tom foolery can you play on ----someone---anyone----!
