whatcha workin on wednesday....now ammended......

well today i had grandiose plans for getting the halloween stuffs out and up....went for my walk, came home to the phone ringing, lbc needed something taken up to him at the school.( 10 miles north west) so i hurried and changed clothes and out the door i ran and then i decided, since i was dressed and out, (sounds like i'm a shut in huh...lol) i would run to town (15 miles east) and see if i could find some more halloween fabric, and maybe go to the family dollar and see if they had anything that resembled halloween labels for my bottles. the first mistake was not going to dollar tree when i was in vernal yesterday. the second, was thinking i could find these things in my own town...do i sound like i'm complaining here? well i am. but only just a little. there was no halloween fabric, nor could i discover any labels. and not only that, the same things that you can find at dollar tree for.....of course....a dollar, cost more than that at family dollar! but still they(city council) say, stay at shop in our own town. which is good if your in the market for a tank of gas, a car wash, a hamburger or some over priced groceries....oh ya, and a movie rental. i also went to the local library, to find the book we are reading for our book club this month, did they have it? no. zilch. but in defense to our humble little library, they didn't have it at the bigger one 45 miles away either. (sour land.... for those who are curious, by william h armstrong. he also wrote the book sounder). sigh. i know there are pros and cons to small town living. and i really, i wouldn't trade it for all the stores in a city. but....... alco, get some stuff in we use in our everyday lives! and for a good price!

so what i have been working on is getting the halloween fabric and the christmas fabric that i have collected all pre shrunk, and it's also the day we (all my daughters/daughters-in-law) have a pot luck lunch and play cards with my mom.

i am making a halloween banner for my front porch. like mimi sue's. or like unto mimi sues! she was kind enough to tell me how she did it. thanks much sue. you should go see her fun porch. i love it!

later on this week i will be doing a short tutorial on making these halloween candy sticks for anyone who has an interest. we saw them in a little store last year and they were pricey little critters, so we came home and made our own.

go visit leslie and find out what everyone else is up to on this warm and balmy (57) www.

oh ya before i forget...betty has a new freebie, a thanksgiving one that she listed today

so i had this posted about 15 minutes and realized i .....yes me...can you imagine it? forgot to add to my post something i was grateful for....i'm such a lurp! lol
gratitude-attitude challenge
today i'm very grateful for stores that have bathrooms that are not locked!!! seriously here ladies, i am grateful for this! i really hate having to ....ask....for a key to go pa-tay. years ago, when i was a young mom with a bunch of kids it was important, and i felt like setting a vendetta against a store that would not let a little kid use the bathroom. now, i am a middle age woman with a had-a-bunch-of-kids-and-a-already-fixed-up-bladder, and i don't want to ask to be able to use the bathroom! so i'm grateful for unlocked bathrooms! :-)

lets be grateful

happy columbus day everyone!
and, i want to thank all of you who have already singed up for my drawing, and welcome any new comers to the stone house.
welcome !

i have been thinking.
an yes, i know that in and of it's self is an amazing thing, but in the last few days i have once again realized how much i have to be grateful for, and how little i show that gratitude.
my life is so full and rich and yet sometimes i whine and feel sorry for myself.
anyone else do that?

i really like to think of myself as a "glass is half full" kind of girl, but sometimes i am afeared that deity may have reason to call me "the whiner"
hummm.
do you know,

along with the words grateful, thankful, gratified, contented, satisfied, pleased, appreciative, and delighted, are linked words like, rude, indifference, thanklessness, self centered, ungrateful, and cruel?

so there ya go.
anyway
i am inviting you to join with me in a simple challenge.
for the next 10 weeks every time you post, to add to that post a blessing that you're grateful for.
this is week one, beginning 12th of oct. week 12 will end dec. 19th.
what do you think?
are you up to this challenge?
i am going to post a link on my side bar, an if you choose to follow this challenge, grab the link and add it to your side bar and invite your peeps to take the " gratitude-attitude challenge" with us.
lets be able to say , i'm drinking from the saucer because my cup is running over .

a week ago, one of our son's horses got out on the highway and was hit late at night by an 18 yr old driving home with a friend and his 12 yr old sister. we have no idea how the horse got out, no fences down, no gates open, the other horse was still in the pasture, anyway the horse was mangled and killed. but the blessing was, that none of the kids in the car were hurt more than scratches! when you live rural place like we do, you know the guy who owns the horse, and you know the guy who hit the horse, and they're all a part of your everyday life. what a blessing these three kids were not hurt!

now, for some goodies. you should go visit Bakerella , and get this fun recipe for cowgirl cookies.

don't they look yummy! i bought some pink m&m's and we are going to "bake an take" some of these goodies tonight as part of our home eveing.

and then.....

waaahaaahahaa

haunted fudge!
how fun is this?

to make this sinful looking yummy, go visit gourmet mom on the go,
an grab the button for your side bar...

it really looks like i like to cook huh?
wrong. but i do like to eat! :-)

and don't forget to enter my drawing if you haven't already done so....
blessings ♥

oh wait, there's more.......... i need some help. can anyone teach me how to make a real button for my side bar? anyone? .............anyone at all?............

In Hymn Of Praise

for the beauty of the earth

text: folliott s pierpoint 1835-1917
music: conrad kocher, 1786-1872

for the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies,
for the love which from our birth over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

for the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night,
hill and vale and tree and flow'r, sun and moon, and stars of light,
Lord of all to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

for the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild,
Lord of all to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful prasie.

psalm 95:1-6
psalm 33:1-6

100th post/halloween giveaway/whatcha workin on wednesday......

time marches on....

apples need picked...

brussel sprouts need picked and frozen...

leaves are turning gold...

nights are below freezing...

we freeze when we walk in the mornings...

more wood needs cut and hauled...

calves need sold...

grapes need juiced...

as always, the house needs put back together...

but...

this is my 100th post...

and...

a giveaway is in order!

there have been many things i wanted to post about in the last few weeks, but time here in the stone house has been an illusionary thing, hence, the lack of posts.

btw, julie, welcome and thanks for visiting me. your red cliffs remind me of my uncles home down along the colorado river in moab.

back to the giveaway...

in the spirit of fall, and my 1ooth post, and in honor of what i fondly call the "beginning of the holidays", i'm having a halloween giveaway for my followers. this is just a little prim something to go with what decorations you already have. simply leave me a comment and tell me you would like to be entered. the drawing will be saturday, october the 17th.

this happy giveaway includes 3 prim tucks, 5 very prim candy corn ornies, and 3 beeswax tapers that i picked up at rendezvous this fall. (bowl not included)

i just want to leave you with a song today, one that you can sing out loud at the top of your lungs! hopefully you will teach this song to a child or grandchild, and they can sing with you at the top of their lungs as well!

a pumpkin carol for all you died in the wool halloween lovers!

sung to the tune of silver bells...

we're on the sidewalks, we're on the porches,

dressed in costumes to scare.

through the city we're ringing the doorbells.

trick or treating, candy eating,

gooey stuff in our hair,

but the most fun is shrieking out loud;

shivery yells, shivery yells,

that's the halloween nitty-gritty.

moan and groan,

leave us alone;

halloween 's just one night a year.

so go ahead, follow me, leave me a comment, and you'll be entered for the giveaway, and...

don't forget to go see leslie @ My Country Home

http://sweets-mycountryhome.blogspot.com/

for what ya workin on wed. see what has been keeping the other gals busy!

and.....don't be afraid to SING this festive song out loud! :-0
